Foreclosure help ideas

A simple, yet highly unusual form of foreclosure help is enabling hundreds of people to keep their homes. Taking advantage of the rampant greed and sloppiness of mortgage brokers, this method gives homeowners a tool to fight foreclosure with an important legal technicality in the form of three simple words.

The three words that are driving fear into the hearts of banks and mortgage brokers: Produce the note. With all the ways mortgages have been repackaged, transferred, resold, and more, the actual promissory note making the mortgage valid and legal has often gotten lost in the shuffle between banks and brokers.

As reported in an article on the website of KGO, San Francisco's ABC affiliate, a federal judge brought the foreclosure process to a stop in a recent case after the couple facing foreclosure invoked this three-word strategy. The attorney for the couple being foreclosed, Chris Hoyer, stated, "We've never seen a company produce the original note yet." A CNN report available below is not quite so optimistic, yet claims that the mortgage note has been lost in nearly half of all cases.

Here's the informative, five-minute CNN video clip with ideas on how to fight foreclosure.
