In the Martin Luther King assassination video clip available for the first time below, award-winning journalist Barry Zwicker discusses an astonishing courtroom jury trial and verdict of which amazingly few people have ever heard.
The media for some strange reason boycotted this historic civil trial held in Memphis, Tennessee ten years ago. The verdict: 12 jurors unanimously found various elements of government guilty in a conspiracy to assassinate Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
After hearing 70 witnesses testify over the course of one month, the 12-member jury in this critical trial took only one hour of deliberation to find the Memphis police and elements of the U.S. government, among others, guilty of conspiracy in King's assassination. Yet you've never heard of this amazing court victory for the King family because it was completely censored by the media, as described by Zwicker in his excellent presentation on Canada's Vision TV.
Don't you think this astounding trial and verdict were worthy of some major headlines, if not at least a small article somewhere in the news? Yet no article was ever published in any mainstream media. The one Associated Press reporter who attended the trial was warned that he would no longer have a job if he tried to get his story published. To verify that this trial indeed happened, read the investigation results regarding this trial posted in June 2000 on the website of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) available here. The case overview states "in King v. Jowers, a recent civil suit in a Tennessee state court, a jury returned a verdict finding that Jowers and unnamed others, including unspecified government agencies, participated in a conspiracy to assassinate Dr. King." Jowers was the owner of the bar outside of which the assassin fired the fatal bullet. Racked with guilt, Jowers made a late life confession of his involvement in the MLK assassination.
The DOJ investigation concludes, "Ultimately, we found nothing to disturb the 1969 judicial determination that James Earl Ray murdered Dr. King or to confirm that Raoul or anyone else implicated by Jowers ... participated in the assassination." Yet the investigation did not overturn the verdict, and again, the media completely failed to even mention this follow-up DOJ investigation.
Rather than a quiet DOJ investigation, shouldn't there have been an official appeal of the verdict to be heard by judges with media attention to bring more facts to light? Why are most people reading this article only hearing about this amazing trial for the first time? Could there be something to hide here?
