I am always honored to talk to an author and when I first spoke to Rose on the telephone, I was excited to learn that she was a Kentucky author too and that she wanted me to review her book!  I was thrilled and her book did not let me down one bit.  "Me and My Ghoulfriends" is a sassy, quirky and very refreshing approach to the para-normal romance genre.

I was drawn in by the names of places that I knew, Magnolia and references to Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace in Hodgenville (being a Hodgenville girl myself).  The balance of romance with humor is appealing and it was nice to see two characters get to know each other instead of jumping into the bed at first sight.  The character of LaRue Donovan is one a reader will not easily forget. She is unique.

Larue Donavan is a bookstore owner and she's a psychic investigator dedicated to helping lost spirits find peace.  Dead people are drawn to her, even Abe Lincoln, that she picked up while visiting his birthplace.  When Callahan Weiss moves to town, she finds herself with a cheering team of dead people and her best friend (a live one).  However; the boutique owner across the street has her eye on Callahan too and uses witchcraft to put him under a love spell. But, with the help of her ghoulish friends, Larue will find out just what is up with Callahan Weiss no matter what kind of deals she has to make with the dead!

Rose states, "
I enjoy writing quirky and fun novels with a paranormal twist. I’ve always found the paranormal interesting. The thought of finding answers to the unexplained is fascinating to me. When I’m not writing, I love reading, spending time with family and listening to oldies from the fifties. Yeah, I love Elvis. I can’t help myself. " (www.rosepressey.com)

I read this book in e-book form.  I was very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone wanting a soft romance with lots of fun,  a good witty read.  I hope to see the character of Larue in the future.

If you would like to meet the author in person, she will be at the Hardin County Public Library, North Branch in Radcliff, Kentucky, on September 14th at 6pm.  This program is sponsored by the Written Word Writer's Group, which also meets at the library.
