Arrivederci!

The time has come to say farewell. The reasons are numerous. Foremost, the amount of work I've put into this site just hasn't reaped the benefits I had hoped. I'm not only talking about monetary. That was actually the least of my expectations. There were other assets I expected to receive from  publishing here, but they have not been forthcoming. After months of telephone call and e-mails and interviews and research...After trying everything I could think of to direct people to my Examiner.com page..well I guess I expected more hits and comments and to have at least been paid a minimal amount by now. It seems that my system is suddenly no longer compatible with the publishing tool, resulting in minumal output and maximum frustration. For example, I kept losing the site, so it took me over an hour to post this. i had to delete the images I wanted to include before I could save the article published. I'm sure it's something on my end, but i don't have the means for an upgrade or whatever mught be needed at this time.

Maybe I give literature too much credit. I find it an interesting subject, do my utmost to present it in a palatable fashion, and try to persuade people to get involved. Maybe the literary-minded of Salt Lake are a cloistered crowd; maybe they prefer book clubs to writing groups. Perhaps I just overestimate my talents of communication and persuasion. Or maybe literacy just isn't as big a deal as it used to be. Video games and reality TV seem to have relinquished books and letters to an improper and insulting place of little importance.

Whatever the case, I've decided to focus my efforts toward things that have borne fruit. you can follow me with much the same information at misterwritesblog.blogspot.com or e-mail me at mrwrite @ live.com. You may catch me in person at the Salt Lake Community College's Community Writing Center on Library Square on the 2nd and 4th Monday eves of each month. That's when I co-mentor a writers' group with a young man named Bryan.  Look for CWC's booth at the upcoming Greater Avenues Community Council's Avenues Street Fair September 12th and at the People's Market in October.

Overall, my experience here was positive. Good luck to everyone . I hope your experience at Examiner is a long and fruitful one.

Repectfully

John Wilkes
