Ten months late, but better than never, Permanent Brunch has finally opened in the East Village!  Foodies have greatly anticipated The Lesly Bernard (Tillman's) project, which will uniquely serve a brunch-only menu, and feature an Artisanal Bacon Bar.

But this celebration of pork was the brainchild of Chef Colin Alevras, who was initially slated to helm the kitchen (and choose one bad-ass i-pod playlist for the eatery), and is no longer connected to the restaurant.  Alevras is currently serving as the Beer Sommelier to the hopping DBGB on the Bowery.

Nevertheless, Meg Grace is now "Consulting Chef", which will excite fans of her own shop, the redhead, where she is lauded for her biscuits.  Meg was also the first female executive chef in Danny Meyer's empire.

But enough about the people -- what about the food?!   They are already headed in the right direction with their price point -- everything is under $15, including the Baked Eggs with Braised Short Rib Ragu and Duck Fat Fingerling Potatoes (what?!).  And I think I'll sample the bacon bar, which features bacon from 5 different states (like Burger's Smokehouse Country Bacon Sugar Cured from Missouri).  Or will I try the Ham and Cheese French Toast? Perhaps a 2AM-on-a-Thursday brunch will prompt a Coffee Milkshake & Fudge Madeleine's order?

It remains to be seen.  Don't worry, folks.  I'll get on this.  I'll get right on this.

Permanent Brunch is located at 95 1st Ave. (between 5th and 6th Streets); 212-533-3315.  http://www.permanentbrunch.com/     Hours:  Mon-Wed 5:30-11:30PM; Thurs/Fri 5:30PM-3AM; Sat 10:30AM-3AM; Sun 10:30AM-11:30PM.
