Even though our economy is undergoing turbulent times, Apple iPhone sales continue to do quite nicely, thank you (17.4 million units in FY09). Last year's release of the 3G model, which was much cheaper than the original model, put the device into more consumers' hands, and word is building that a newer version will hit the marketplace in June. Reports indicate that the new model will feature a more powerful video camera, FM transmission, and enhanced Skype capabilities. Let's not forget that Apple's App Store for the iPhone continues to have new additions on a daily basis, so you will have the ability to customize your device with just about any program you want.

There are a number of devices being released that are attempting to compete with the iPhone, including more souped-up versions of the BlackBerry--Bold, Storm, etc. Plus, other gadgets such as the HTC Fuze and the LG Incite are getting some attention as well. However, Apple and AT&T have done simply a masterful job in marketing their product, and everyone else is just playing catch-up to this point. Sooner or later the bloom will fall off the rose, but we should expect a flood of new iPhone purchases beginning in June and their market domiance will see even higher levels.
