Summer slim down with Rangpur Gin cocktail
One of my favorite summer time refreshers happens to be a great summer time slimmer at the same time. Let’s face it, with summer here the need to stay toned and in shape is a must with shorts season and swim suits coming out of the closet. Water does not always quench one’s thirst. Sometimes a little bit of ‘umph’ is exactly what the imbiber wants the bartender to mix up in the magic shaker.
Rangpur Gin came along in the summer of 2006 in a few select cities in the U.S. for a trial run with quite a bit of success. Thank goodness! This little gem turns out to be hugely popular for summer quick fix cocktails which contain lime without the harsh juniper overtones some gins are so well known for. Rangpur Gin pairs nicely with a multitude of fruit juices due to the mildness of the gin, but also for its own essence of Rangpur limes, ginger and hint of bay leaves. The fruitier lilt of this gin enables the creation of less traditional gin cocktails which has opened the door for new gin consumers across the board.
Rangpur Gin contains approximately 69 calories per one ounce and zero carbohydrates. This works perfectly for cocktails since the ideal ratio is 1-1/2 to 2 ounces of spirit per drink. With this amount the maximum calorie intake for spirit will be 138 calories. Begin thinking diet tonic water which contains zero calories and zero carbohydrates and the cocktail remains at the same 138 calorie output. With Rangpur Gin a simple one half ounce fresh lime juice or half a fresh lime squeezed into the cocktail is all that is needed to work in wonderful harmony with the light sweetness of the diet tonic and highlight the subtle flavors of the gin.
