Fragoli Liqueur causes Victoria’s Secret Pink cocktail to ‘blush’

What’s Vicki’s secret? Apparently the only one I can show and tell here is the Victoria’s Secret Pink – cocktail that is. The cocktail recipe circulated around the blogosphere many months ago when the famous
Fontainebleau Miami Beach Resort emerged renewed and refreshed after an uplifting experience of remodel and modern stylizing to attract the jet set and beautiful. How appropriate to adorn the party with the likes of super models, the rich and famous and of course a Victoria’s Secret Fashion show complete with signature cocktail using a liqueur so sought after even the rich and famous had a difficult time getting their hands on it for a while.
The ‘secret’ ingredient; Fragoli Liqueur. This liqueur has been available in Europe for a few years but debuted in the U.S. in November 2006. Since then companies and individuals, especially high society, have scrambled to find this deliciously sweet liqueur with its perfectly poised elfin strawberries that seem to challenge the laws of physics. “We designed Fragoli’s market approach with a very specific consumer in mind: women,” Toschi Vignola, creator of this decadent liqueur says. “The beautiful people and certain pockets of high-society adopted it immediately which has led to its fast success.” Speedy sensation also led to quick unavailability. Demand for Fragoli Liqueur swept the nation. Little doubt this in part had to do with its use in illustrious cocktails sipped by the world’s most famous of faces and figures; Victoria’s Secret Angels.
Fragoli Liqueur shakes up the cocktail world of strawberry liqueurs with its floating pinkish red baubles. It is definitely the deep color of Fragoli that brings out the girlish ‘blush’ in this pretty in pink cocktail. Victoria’s Secret Pink mixes up one mighty sweet drink with a dab of pink fluff garnish that could never make it from glass to lips without melting just like the cotton candy we knew and loved from the days of sugary sweet childhood. Possibly this cocktail’s creation was more about pretty pink fluff and sugary sweetness to counter balance the sharper edge of sexy saunter that is the Victoria’s Secret style we know, adore and sometimes blush at.

Pink Cotton Candy Garnish
Sugar to Rim
Rim a martini glass with sugar. Place vodka, elderflower liqueur and Fragoli in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into chilled, sugar-rimmed martini glass. Top off with champagne. Garnish with pink cotton candy ball.
The Victoria’s Secret Pink cocktail does take on a pretty hue. Mine is served up in a champagne flute rather than martini glass and I opted out of the extra sugar rush by leaving off the sugared rim and pink cotton candy garnish. However, this one still blows the mind while setting off the sugar alarm with how much it is loaded down with candy sweetness. The mix of elderflower liqueur just does not work here turning the beautifully delicate St-Germain liqueur into a slightly perfumed mix that overpowers. My suggestion: If you want a taste of the Victoria’s Secret Pink let your fingers take a walk through the
VS catalog or online while you sip the remaining Moet & Chandon Champagne. For a splash of pink add a half ounce of chilled Fragoli and top with champagne.
