Toast summer with Rhum Clément recipes
National Rum Day may have passed us by, but it is never too late to enjoy the delicious flavor of the oldest spirit in the world. In a few places of the Unites States weather is already beginning to shift to cooler temperatures in the evening. Cooler temps bring to mind darker spirits with warmer tones such as rum. Rhum Clément is said to be the leading producer of Rhum Argicole in Martinque and strives to be the truest representation of pure, natural rum. Enjoy these last days of summer perfection with the ‘Ti Punch recipe from Rhum Clément. It adds a little warmth to the soul as it cools and refreshes.
‘Ti Punch2 ounces Rhum Agricole (Rhum Clément)
1/2 ounce Sugar Cane Syrup Clément
Large lime disk (ideally 50/50 ratio of pulp to zest)
Tablespoon of crushed ice.
In a rocks or old-fashioned glass, squeeze the lime slice and pour the Sugar Syrup over the lime, which has been cut from the side of the fruit so that the aromatic oils from the peel will flavor the drink. Add the rum and use a bar spoon to stir the drink until the syrup is dissolved; add a tablespoon of crushed ice and briefly stir again to chill the drink.
Sugar Cane Syrup
2 cups of Turbinado sugar
2 cups water
2 cinnamon sticks broken in half
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or 2-3 vanilla beans
3-4 cloves
