The month of May brings with it many toasts: college graduations, bridal showers, births of babies and impending weddings. Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut Champagne - courtesy Laurent-PerrierWhile ordinary champagne averages 90 calories per glass, each bubble begins to stack up when one is watching the hourglass figure.

Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut Champagne is not only Ultra Dry for spectacular sensation; it is also Ultra Low with only 65 calories per glass. Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut achieves this due to the fact it is essentially Champagne in its purest form without the addition of any sugar. Laurent-Perrier was well known for its Grand Vin sans Sucre in the 19th Century and continues to produce a Champagne of this type. In fact Laurent-Perrier is one of the few Champagne houses to produce Champagne without the addition of sugar.

Tasting Notes courtesy of Laurent-Perrier:
Appearance: Limpid, bright yellow with fine bead.
Nose: Intense and forward, with citrus and honeysuckle notes and a unique mineral component, oftentimes likened to a fresh sea breeze.
Taste: Surprising depth and power, with a purity and concentration of flavor all its own. Amazingly well balanced and absolutely bone dry.

Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut pairs well with a variety of appetizers such as goat cheese and sushi, but goes marvelously with oysters.
