Buffalo Trace Distillery toasts White Dog Days at Keeneland

Buffalo Trace Distillery says it takes the summer off from distilling, but from the looks of the place plenty of hard work goes on year round. Buffalo Trace celebrates its 236th Distilling Season this weekend, October 15 – 17, in what they call White Dog Days. White Dog is the 125 proof clear distillate that ultimately becomes Buffalo Trace Bourbon. The taste is distinctive and strong with clear notes of corn. It is full, deep in flavor, memorable around the edges and definitely enjoyable. But as Kris Comstock, Buffalo Trace Brand Manager aptly pointed out, it’s good but White Dog isn’t bourbon. In another eight to ten years with barrel aging this White Dog just might turn out to be something pretty special.
The Intoxicologist was fortunate to be one of the invited guests this weekend for a behind the scenes tour and special White Dog toast. Buffalo Trace Distillery invites you to be part of the White Dog Days weekend. Be part of the celebration today, Friday October 16, by heading out to Keeneland Racecourse. The first 1,000 patrons to enter the gate receive a pair of Buffalo Trace jockey goggles. Patrons may also enter the Buffalo Trace Distillery Sweepstakes.
White Dog Days Weekend, October 15 – 17 offers more exciting events taking place at the Buffalo Trace Distillery Saturday. Don’t miss out.
