Much like the weather in the Midwest, the gossip swirling around Mark Teixeira’s landing spot changes by the hour. Today’s forecast looks partly sunny for the Angels, but storm clouds from east loom on the horizon.
The encouraging news comes via John Heyman of si.com. Heyman reports Arte Moreno is ready to increase his initial bid, believed to be $165 million, to retain Teixeira’s services.
Heyman also suggests the Juan Rivera signing will have no effect on the pursuit of Teixeira.
The storm clouds come from New York where Yankee honchos are debating the merits of signing Teixeira or Manny Ramirez. Some believe New York is just trying to muck up the situation for the Red Sox, and actually prefer the unbelievable clutch hitting skills of Ramirez.
In the previous chapter of the Teixeira soap opera, Boston president John Henry suggested his team had made its final bid, a claim few believed.
