We found out today that Brazilian midfield star Kaká will be staying put at AC Milan and not heading to Manchester City despite a 107-million-pound transfer offer from the new English megaclub.
We all figured City would go after a big name during the January transfer window, and it sounds like they got a lot closer to landing a huge deal than anyone thought possible. While the article says both teams are claiming they stopped the deal from going through, it's hard to believe that Milan didn't have the final say when it was all said and done.
While City did get Craig Bellamy, they have to be a little down after having another huge transfer within their grasp. Currently sitting 11th on the table with 25 points, they need a spark to keep this season going in the right direction as they try to join the upper echelon of the EPL. And manager Mark Hughes wouldn't have minded some more help as he tries to show that he's the man for the job in the long term picture.
What do you think, surprised this didn't go through? Was it really that close? What should City's next move be?
