For anyone who is looking for some MLS action tonight, the second legs of CONCACAF Champions League preliminary matchups for the New England Revolution and Chivas USA will be on, with the New England game on Fox Soccer Channel (8 p.m. ET for the NE game, 10 p.m. for Chivas).
Both sit in deficits after losses on the road. New England went down 2-1 in the away leg against Joe Public FC of Trinidad & Tobago, but they did manage the crucial away goal that will make this game a bit easier. That said, they’ll be operating without Taylor Twellman after he took a shot to the face while heading home a goal against the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday.
Chivas has more work for them, as they went down 2-0 to Tauro FC of Panama. They’ll need at least a 2-0 score, and if Tauro manages a goal, Chivas will need four themselves to offset that away goal that they couldn’t secure themselves.
As mentioned in a post last week, these are the type of matchups and tournaments that are going to help the MLS progress as a league if they can get results.
We’ll then move into the U.S. Open Cup tomorrow, as D.C. United go for the title against the Charleston Battery of the USL. That one will also be on FSC at 7:30 p.m. ET.
