A bit of Premier League news to wake up with this morning. It’s being reported in this article by The Guardian that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has up to 30 million pounds at his disposal for a move before the transfer window closes.
At first thought, that’s like a little kid in the candy store. But with only three days left, perhaps it’s not enough time to do anything substantial. The areas Arsenal could use help would be at mid or striker. Either give Fabregas another talented player in the middle of the pitch to work with or someone to pair with Adebayor up front to create more options in front of the goal.
After this start to the season (even though it was sans Fabregas), Arsenal must need another piece if it is to compete with United and Chelsea at the top. We’ll get a better read on that Saturday when the Gunners take on Newcastle with the Spaniard finally in the lineup.
Over at Stanford Bridge, the Blues certainly seem to believe they have things sewn up. This Soccernet article and several others I came across say that Chelsea is already advertising shirts with Robinho’s name on the back. That seems just a tiny bit premature given the random nature of the market. Although, I did just log onto Chelsea’s site, and I couldn’t find any option to put Robinho’s name on anything. Perhaps they took it down.
