Shevchenko's stay at Stamford Bridge was not pretty.

Andriy Shevchenko is heading back to Milan.

It’s. About. Time.

This association has been painful for a while now with Shevchenko’s ineptness, and relief has finally come with this move (pending a medical evaluation) which will return him to his former club. It’ll be interesting to see if Chelsea worked out a permanent deal or if they had to settle for a loan. How much money can he actually be worth right now?

Maybe Shevchenko will be able to revive his career back at his old stomping grounds, but the EPL is certainly not the place for him. Although who didn’t enjoy watching Chelsea’s free-spending ways crash-and-burn. His record-breaking arrival and subsequent struggles in the EPL will no doubt end up becoming a wonderful trivia question for future generations to ponder.

And this move will surely be followed by the Robinho signing, which grows more inevitable each day.

Continuing on the subject of transfers, it appears the Dimitar Berbatov move to Old Trafford will also be completed in the near future. Berbatov quickly went from being quiet on the matter to speaking out and eventually submitting a transfer request. Given that he was dropped from the lineup for Saturday’s game against Sunderland, he should be dealt shortly.

That’s good news for United, who look to need a little more punch up front unless Wayne Rooney comes around. On the other hand, it’s rather poor behavior from Berbatov, who is hurting Tottenham with his choice of action. But perhaps he was sensing that the move wasn’t going to go through and decided that more drastic measures needed to be taken. Who knows.

Whatever the case, he should be in United’s red within the week unless something changes in a hurry.
