We should also mention the most surprising news that has surfaced recently….that being the expected announcement of Diego Maradona as the Argentina coach.

My fellow Soccer Examiner didn’t think this was the worst idea, but I would respectfully disagree.

Please, someone try and explain. There are the drugs, the health...the lack of managing experience.  Granted, there’s not THAT much that needs to be done with a team this full of talent. But perhaps what they don’t need is a manager who is bound to draw all the attention and create lots of distracting headlines.

That said, maybe that will take some of the pressure off of the players – who knows? Still, it seems like there’s a million ways this could turn into a disaster, so we’ll have to wait and see.
