A Rosewood Resort in the eastern foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, long the bailiwick of Silicon Valley bigwigs, CordeValle has softened its corporate edges somewhat with a new branded spa that has already garnered a Mobil four-star spa rating. Reflecting the idyllic vineyards and foothills setting, signature treatments at Sense, A Rosewood Spa™ are such as Grape Seed & Cherry Bark Scrub, the Grape Seed & Rosehip Mud Wrap, and the "Raindrop Ritual," which includes a grape seed body gel exfoliation and grape seed oil massage. The spa has outdoor gardens, Turkish-style steam rooms, private whirlpools and relaxation courtyards; yoga is offered on the outdoor deck above the golf course.
A small resort spread out on 1,700 acres, CordeValle is a true sanctuary for tuckered high-tech types from the San Francisco Bay Area, for golfers and for visitors traveling through central California. Just 45 urban-chic rooms and suites are sequestered in a scattering of bungalows and villas. On the property, resort guests are VIPs at Clos LaChance winery and on the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. golf course (according to Golf Magazine in 2008, one of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play").
Taking into account that even CEOs need love, too, and belying its 5-star status, the resort is offering special packages. for two golfers, including one night in a bungalow, full breakfasts and a round of golf with cart(good Nov. 16-Dec. 31, 2009: $550; Apr. 1-Nov. 15, 2009: $865). Spa lovers get an even better deal: for a couple, the package includes two nights in a bungalow, breakfasts and a whopping $500 spa credit! (good for the same dates, $1,100-$1,350).
CordeValle is a 45 minutes north of Pebble Beach and 30 minutes south of San Jose.
