So lately when I've been browsing clothes online, (which I do a little too often), I've been noticing more and more garments made out of a fabric I don't particularly love-- velvet.
It's not that I have had any type of incident with velvet in the past, there's just something about the material that screams, "Stay away." I just can't force myself to picture anyone over the age of 12 wearing the fabric.

Maybe it's the thickness, or how it reminds me of Christmas wrappings, or just the overall idea that it was one of the worst trends of the 1990's that we all wished would just go away.

The worst part is... in my Couture Dressmaking class at school, I will have to face my demons-- yes, I must make a garment out of *gulp* velvet. It is, hands down, one of the most difficult fabrics to sew because it sheds and becomes unraveled EVERYWHERE once it is cut.

But while you don't have to face the challenges of sewing the material, you can still wear it... at your own risk that is. After all, they don't say, "Soft as velvet," for no reason.
But, like the song says, here are some pieces that may just "bring you to your knees:"

Bat Cross Body Bag, $50 Proenza Schouler Pant, $790

Louboutin Lady -Page Heel, $895 Highwaisted Knicker, $20
Who knows, you may just find yourself developing a velvet crush.
