Two heads are better than one. And when want a great workout, two sets of fists are definitely better than one. If you're looking to amplify your boxing workouts, bring a friend with you the next time you head to the gym.
Brining a partner exponentially increases your training options. Instead of limiting yourself to shadowboxing and hitting the heavy bag, you'll be able to really focus on your footwork. For starters, you can get in the ring after your warm up and practice just moving forward and backward with your partner. When they're on offense, you play defense, and vice versa. You don't even have to throw punches--just chasing down a moving target will be enough to get your heart rate pumping.
As you get more comfortable, you and workout buddy can start mixing in punches. One of you can use our gloves as mitts and call out combinations, while the other tries to chase you down and make contact. After a few rounds, switch it up. It doesn't' matter who's throwing punches and who's calling the shots--holding the mitts for someone is a great work out in and of itself.
Down the road, you can take it to the next level and spar if you feel comfortable. But in the meantime, bringing a friend to the gym is guaranteed to help you take your boxing to the next level.
