Are you suffering postpartum depression from the Mayweather/Marquez fight last night? Did Mayweather's failure to make weight leave a bad taste in your mouth? Have no fear, my friends, there's plenty of great boxing coming up, some of which will be held right here in Chicago, that is guaranteed to satisfy your craving for the sweet science.
As one of our readers reminded me, two Chicagoans wil square off at Chicago's own UIC Pavilion on Saturday, September 26. (Thanks, Louis!) Former World Lightweight Champion and Olympic Silver medalist David Diaz, who trained out of Chicago's Hamlin Park once upon a time, will face Jesus Chavez, who was born in Mexico but moved to Chicago at age 5, at Windy City Fight Night 6. Tickets start at $31 and doors open at 7:00 p.m.
David Diaz is making good on his promise to bring great boxing back to his hometown. (I hear that he's even passed up some big money fights in Vegas to fight here in the Windy City.) If you've never seen a live fight before, it's the perfect opportunity to support Chicago boxing at the same time.
