As queen of the procrastinators, I am often scowering the Internet searching for last minute ideas for Father's Day. If you are like me, here are some ideas that dads with wanderlust will surely appreciate. .jpg)
1. Golden Gate Meat Company's Foodie Classes. If your man is interested in learning to prepare and chop meat, this venerable San Francisco institution (in the Ferry Building) is now offering one night cooking classes for a hundred bucks a pop.
2. Hang Gliding Lessons with the San Francisco Hang Gliding Center. You may have seen these wonders sailing the wind over Fort Funston. Well, here's dad's chance to soar with the best. Tandem lessons will whet his appetite for this wild adventure.
3. A cedar enzyme bath at Osmosis Spa in Freestone. Pair this with some bread at Wildflour Bakery and then a night at the Avalon B&B and your man will be singing your praises all year.
4. A white watering rafting trip with Gold Rush. The middle fork of the American River is flowing and now is the time to paddle it. Don't forget your helmets folks.
5. A weeklong kayak school at Otter Bay Lodge. Though pricy, nothing beats their trips on the Salmon River.
6. Sail to the Farallones to view mating birds, great white sharks and whales. For more information, click here.
7. Book a flight to Kauai. Tickets are insanely cheap at the moment, with deals as low as $200 round trip from San Francisco. For information on Kauai, click here, or purchase a copy of my Great Destinations Kauai book.
8. Go kayaking on Lake Tahoe at Camp Richardson.
9. Go big and book a new sunset tour on Airship Ventures--yes, it's that blimp you see floating over San Francisco most days and it has the best views around. For a bit less cash, take dad on a chopper with San Francisco Helicopter Tours.
10. If you are on a budget, pack a picnic and hike the Dipsea Trail in Marin, all the way to Stinson Beach. Then have a beer at one of the cafes and hike back.
Happy Father's Day dads around the globe.
