"I mean he really created a new musical language, you know . And in his time he really defined the video age. There was no one before him and no one after him that will ever do what he did for the video age. I mean you can see his influence in so many artists today." "I mean just think about it...in every corner of the world right now the financial crisis, Iran, North Korea, thos issues are aside for a moment. Think about the influence and the power to stop world news ...even if it's for a minute or for one day." "You know tonight certainly in every club or radio station of the world you'll be hearing Michael Jackson songs." Davis: "He really went to the fringe with MTV his videos of "Beat it", "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" were state of the art cutting edge videos that it was not just that he had hits all of his life from his childhood but he also was at the cutting edge , whether it was with his moonwalk, whether it was with those videos that really brought MTV to the fore. He was the main reason MTV emerged as a major pop culture force."
Mattola, who is now the head of Casablanca Records had this to say about Jackson.
Mattola: " When you look back at those videos, images of ...ah..."I want you back" when he was in the Jackson Five, from that early age to becoming the largest pop icon in the world.
