It has been a roller coaster year for Shawn Johnson age 17, who had to file a restraining order against a stalker Robert O'Ryan, 34, allegedly jumped a fence at CBS Studios in L.A. where the show was filming, but was caught by security. Apparently he had driven cross country from Florida to L.A. to meet her.
More bad news today came from a satirical new site called the Onion. They put out one of their spoof stories on the “Death of Shawn Johnson”. Onion reported that Johnson, a 4 time 2008Olympian, and Dancing with the stars champion had suffered a knee injury, and had to be “put down” by her parents. The video below featured actors in a mock interview on FAKE show called “Today now!” discussing the FAKE tragedy.
Phony Reporter /Tracy Gill says: “ It must be such a hard time for you”
Actor portraying Father Doug Johnson : “ It is Tracy it tough whenever you have to put a gymnast to sleep but we’ve been watching Shawn develop as a gymnast for so long that it really feels like you’re losing a friend.
Actress portraying Mother Teri Johnson: “ Yes, we considered her to be a part of the family”
After just those brief seconds i can’t believe anyone thought this was a real event, but apparently they did. So far the video has received over 50,00 views, and no end in sight. The term Shaw Johnson dead is also one of the most searched terms on Google. Many people have considered the clip to be funny but the Johnson's are not laughing.
The Des Moines Register reported that Johnson's fellow gymnast Genna Pitcher said “ It’s sort of rude”. Also reported was a statement by Johnson's publicist who stated “At this time there will be no comment from Shaw, or her parents about the video."
The week hasn’t been all bad for Miss Johnson as she was also was nominated for two Teen Choice Awards one as “Best female athlete”, and one for “Best female reality star.”
Do you think a spoof can go to far? or should the Johnson’s get a sense of humor?
