Anderson Cooper thought Obama Nobel Peace Prize was a joke.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper co-hosted this morning’s “Live with Regis & Kelly”. During the live taping Cooper said when he heard President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize, he thought that it “was a joke”. He went on to make joke himself stating that Regis and Kelly were on the list to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Joking aside the reactions to Obama as the recipient of this years Nobel prize have been mixed. The panel who decides who is awarded said Obama was chosen for his current efforts towards worl peace and nuclear disarmament. Although the committee had chosen Obama, they decided to wait until morning to let the President know of their decision. Committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland said "Waking up a President in the middle of the night, this isn't really something you do”.
The President himself received the news at 6 am this morning. Many perceive the award as a slap in the face of former President Bush for his military actions following September 11 attacks.
Jagland said “You have to remember that the world has been in a pretty dangerous phase,. And anybody who can contribute to getting the world out of this situation deserves a Nobel Peace Prize."
