Back in April, we brought you a profile of a Central Florida Science Fiction author, Elissa Malcohn, whose work at that time had been part of a Electric Velocipede, a print science fiction literary ‘zine nominated for the Hugo award. You recall what a big deal that is, don’t you? It’s the premiere award for Science Fiction and Fantasy authors, par excellence.
Since I’ve recently received an update on the status of said award, I thought I would pass along the good news as received from Ms. Malcohn herself, who took time out from her busy schedule at Worldcon last week, to pass along some very happy news. Yes, dear readers, you guessed it: Electric Velocipede, featuring Ms. Malcohn’s story “Hermit Crabs”, received that prestigious award! So our congratulations to her, to the staff of Electric Velocipede and to all the other fine authors whose work comprised the award-winning publication.
Ms. Malcohn further informed us that she has a novelette entitled “Flotsam”, and a poem, both slated for publication in the forthcoming October/November issue of Asimov’s Science Fiction, so do be sure to be on the look out for that, soon. Also she’ll be appearing at this year’s Necronomicon, October 23-25. So, if you attend this year’s convention, do remember to seek out Elissa Malcohn and say congrats, and howdy!
In the meantime, once again, our congratulations to Ms. Malcohn for her Hugo win, and as ever, we wish her all the best for a bright literary future.
