The King of Pop Music Videos
There's not too many areas of the arts that Michael Jackson hasn't influenced. Although Mr. Jackson's filmography is rather small (The Wiz, Moonwalker, Men in Black) there is no argument that music videos were forever changed and shaped due to the King of Pop's esteemed and varied collection over the years.
Many people might not be aware that many of his most notorious videos acted as short films that involved famous directors and filmmakers. His most famous example: Thriller was cowritten and directed by John Landis. Mr. Jackson was smitten with the likeminded horror film American Werewolf in London. He also worked with Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas on Captain EO which was a 3D amusement park event film. A screenwriting professor of mine actually helped out the project and wasn't afraid to bring it up during class that he got to work with "Michael." The king of pop collaborated with the king of gangster when Martin Scorsese directed Bad.
As well as being an innovative performer and singer, Mr. Jackson is revered in the film community for his audacity and vision as an artist for embracing the video/short film format and changing how artists communicate ideas through visual media.
