America Libre, by Raul Ramos y Sanchez to be released this summer
I love success stories and Raul Ramos y Sanchez's story is definitely a succesful one. After having self-published his novel, America Libre, the book won the International Latino Book Award for Best Novel and was eventually picked up by a major New York publisher. Sanchez is currently waiting for the official release of his novel and a summer book tour.
Fast Facts:
AMERICA LIBRE
Debut novel by Raul Ramos y Sanchez
July 29th, 2009 release Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books).
What the reviewers are saying:
"In such explosive times as ours, it is rare to discover a novel that captures fanaticism in all its extremes and tells a story as thrilling and vibrant as Raul Ramos y Sanchez's AMERICA LIBRE. Future and history collide in a cautionary tale of a new Civil War on American soil. A must-read for all, no matter where you draw your line in the sand."
—James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Oracle

struggling to support his growing family. But under the spell of a beautiful Latina radical, the former U.S. Army Ranger soon finds himself questioning his loyalty to his country -- and to his wife.
Book Tour:
The tour is scheduled to begin in late summer and the author will be visiting Southern California, Chicago and Central Texas to coincide with the July 29th release of America Libre. The details are still in the works and I will post more information as the date approaches.
Sanchez is living every author's dream. After five months as a self-published edition, the book was acquired by Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books). During its brief first edition, the author made 14 radio and TV appearances and held 3 book signings. The original edition of the book also won the 2008 International Latino Book Award for Best Novel, Adventure or Drama in English. The novel was also a finalist in the Violet Crown Fiction Awards by the Writers League of Texas. America Libre is the first installment of a trilogy. Grand Central Publishing acquired the first two books.
"I posed the nightmare scenario of America Libre as a wake up call to the dangers of extremism —on both sides of the explosive immigration issue," says Sanchez.
