Comcast Colorado Doubles Internet Speeds
Comcast knows Colorado customers have the need for internet speed, which is why we’re rolling out next-generation service that will double speeds. Comcast announced this week that we’re making the leap from broadband to wideband internet service with the launch of DOCSIS 3.0.
Speed upgrades began in August, with more than half of the Denver Metro area now benefitting from the faster speeds. By the end of October, the entire Front Range will have transitioned to DOCSIS 3.0 and most customers across the state by the end of the year.
As part of the wideband service, Comcast will launch two new premium speed tiers for its residential and business class customers—two of the fastest internet speeds available in Colorado.
- Extreme 50, offering up to 50 Mbps of downstream speed and up to 10 Mbps of upstream speed at $99.95/month
- Ultra, offering up to 22 Mbps of downstream speed and up to 5 Mbps of upstream speed at $62.95/month
So how fast is the new fast? With Extreme 50, customers can download a high-def movie in about 16 minutes, a standard-def movie in about 5 minutes or a standard-def TV show in only a matter of seconds.
Comcast is also doubling speeds for existing high-speed Performance and Performance plus customers (who will be upgraded to Comcast’s Blast! tier).
