Private Mansion rolls out the red carpet for GLAAD (tickets still available)

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is hosting their first Red Carpet Gala in South Florida beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday November 7 at 2716 Barcelona Drive in Fort Lauderdale.
About 200 people are expected to attend, with a fundraising goal of more than $100,000 between ticket sales and the silent auction.
“We’re very appreciative of the strong support for this event,” said GLAAD’s Board of Directors member Gary Bitner. “All of the expenses have been underwritten, so every dollar raised will be spent on important work by GLAAD.”
GLAAD is a nationwide organization that is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events as a means of eliminating discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. In Florida, GLAAD works to overturn the state’s ban on adoptions by gay parents.
The program will include speeches by GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios, and ACLU of Florida LGBT Advocacy Project Director Robert Rosenwald. Barrios will also introduce Veronica Gisele Blum and her partner Marlene Perez, who wanted to have a baby and do second parent adoption in Florida but had to move to New York in order to do so.
“GLAAD’s work to bring fair and accurate stories of LGBT people and issues to Americans is needed today, especially in Florida,” said B. Rodney White of Hollywood, FL, who co-chairs GLAAD’s South Florida Leadership Council.
Tickets are $100 for general admission and $200 for VIP with discounts for multiple ticket purchases. All tickets include one year of basic membership to GLAAD.
