March for Babies(R) is the March of Dimes premier fundraising event that benefits all babies -- those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive. Now in its 39th year, the March of Dimes walk event, the first of its kind in this country, last year raised nearly $110 million dollars nationally to support programs of research advocacy, community programs and education. Seventy seven percent of the money raised is spent on research and programs that promote the health of babies.
Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year in the United States. This leading nonprofit organization works to help mothers have full-term pregnancies, healthy babies, prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
March for Babies takes place in more than 900 communities across the United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It is their biggest fundraiser and since 1970 has raised $1.8 billion to benefit babies.
