To hopefully make up for the general interruption in my writing and the lack of a weekly release post this week, I thought I would bring to your attention a pretty fantastic video game sale that GameStop is holding as of today. There are several surprisingly relevant games being sold new at $20 or less, so this is a great sale to check out if you've been meaning to pick up and play some recently-released games that you missed. This sale is happening both online and in stores, so go nuts!
There are actually a series of sales set to kick off in the upcoming month, but the main one is happening right now, and won't end until August 2 (though sale prices are limited to whatever stock GameStop has left, so if you find something you want, you'd best jump on it). You can find the complete list of games on sale here, but I've highlighted some of the more notable titles for you below. All titles listed are $20, unless otherwise noted:
Wii
de Blob
The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Xbox 360
Bionic Commando
Infinite Undiscovery
NBA 2K9 - $20
Prince of Persia
Sonic Unleashed
Tom Clancy's EndWar
PS3
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition)
NBA 2K9
Prince of Persia
SingStar Vol. 1
SingStar Vol. 2
Sonic Unleashed
DS
Chrono Trigger
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume
PSP
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Secret Agent Clank ($18)
In addition, GameStop also has an additional sale going on right now wherein they're knocking $100 off the price of Guitar Hero: World Kit complete band kits (except for the PS3 version -- sorry, PS3 owners). That means you can get World Tour with all instruments for $90 (Xbox 360 and Wii) or $80 (PS2), depending on your console of choice.
Finally, the deals page hints that additional special sales are coming on July 15th and July 22nd, so be sure to check back and see what else is in store.
I know this isn't "news" per se, but a sale like this is pretty relevant to gamers -- especially those of us living in California, what with the sales tax being raised yet again this week. So enjoy the savings, fellow Los Angeles gamers -- in the meantime, I expect to be back to my regular writing schedule next week.
(Please note that I'm not affiliated with GameStop in any way, shape, or form. I'm simply reporting on some fantastic savings for gamers, and would do the same regardless of the retailer.)
