I have truly had it with the outside media.
What TBS did in their pregame coverage of the Rays was reprehensible and downright disrespectful to a team in their first postseason ever.
While being interviewed from their studio, the “only” network of the Division Series did a split screen with Harold Reynolds live from Tropicana Field. Under whomever was asking a question the words “TBS Studio” appeared. Fine. Under Reynolds’ mug the words “Tampa, FL” appeared.
What?
I have written many columns regarding this subject and even the local media has jumped on this bandwagon after a decade of indifference, but how does Major League Baseball allow this outfit to broadcast their showcase event, the playoffs, and not make sure they are correct on all points?
It is unbearably clear some still call the team ”Devil” Rays, which was also done during Thursday’s pregame, or use Tampa in their vocabulary. I don’t like it but I understand. However, to not have a correct graphic on their telecast makes TBS look like they are still the Channel 17 Superstation amateurs from back in cable’s infancy.
Tampa, FL? I have no clue what they were thinking but this is insulting to everyone who lives in the city of St. Petersburg who claims the team as their own.
I live in this beautiful waterfront city and I take this personally. This was the ultimate slap in the face.
Shame on you, TBS.
