If you've got plenty of time and patience, you'll want to check out Plato's Closet in Chandler for jaw-dropping deals on brand names. You'll need time and patience because: 1.) There are racks upon racks of worthwhile goods to browse and 2.) Customer service is almost non-existent. It took almost an hour for the sales associate to browse through my two small bags of clothing. This would have been fine had someone told me up front - but no one mentioned anything. In fact, I was hardly acknowledged except for twice: a few minutes after I walked up to the counter, and when my clothes were finally ready for sale. But I'll still come back. Why? Because of the deals.

What's convenient about Plato's Closet is that the front-of-the-store section is always stocked with in-season items, making a quick pop-in easy (service willing) if you're just looking for one particular item. Today there were plenty of jeans, sweaters and scarves to comb through as I waited and the majority of these items were steals: Citizens of Humanity jeans for $48, a Miss Me top for $20 and a GUESS pullover for a little under $30.

Some more in-depth browsing revealed ugg-style boots for $28 and a handful of brand name purses ranging from $15 to $30. There's also a decent selection of trendy jewelry at reasonable prices. I found two necklaces for $3 each and a chunky bracelet (the kind you find at department stores for way more) at $8. Things to steer away from: wool sweaters (they're oftentimes already shrunk from the previous owner and therefore not the right size - also a bit dingy looking) and many of the shoes (most of them look pre-owned). You'll also want to shop the scarves with caution. I found a couple of Old Navy scarves priced at $10 that I'm pretty sure I can find new at Old Navy for less. And speaking of pre-owned, don't forget you can sell or trade-in items that you no longer wear.

As if the prices weren't low enough, Plato's Closet also posts coupons online for even more discounts. And every so often the shop will have a special sale like the one today where they offered 70 percent off all redlines. There's also almost always a vast selection of clearance items. In all, Plato's Closet is definitely worth the time. Just don't always expect service with a smile.
