The Wallace and Gromit short A Grand Day Out was shown at an animation festival 20 years ago today.  This enjoyable little short featured the voice of British acting stalwart Peter Sallis as the voice of Wallace.  Wallace is an unconventional inventor who lives with his dog Gromit.  They decide to go to the moon to collect more cheese for their crackers!

More shorts followed:  A Close Shave, The Wrong Trousers, and even a superior theatrical movie:  Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Wererabbit.  In 2008, a new short, A Matter of Loaf and Death, was released. I have yet to see this, but have a great feeling!

In honor of their twentieth anniversary, Guardian UK has a slideshow with their highlights over the past twenty years.
