This Oscar-winning movie told the intriguing story (based on a story by The Great Gatsby writer F. Scott Fitzgerald no less) of a life spent backwards.

Brad Pitt's performance in this 2008 movie was spectacular as Benjamin Button who was born as an old man (with all the infirmities of old ages) and ages backwards.  The movie details his life and loves with great performances from Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton.  Also, Taraji P. Henson delivered a stand out performance as Benjamin's adoptive and protective mother, Queenie.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was heartwarming.  It was part tragedy, part comedy, and part love story.  It was, in the end imho, very life-affirming.

One nagging question arose for me about the ending.  Benjamin Button eventually turns into a baby before he dies.  He just looks like a regular newborn.  (I heard this was how the Fitzgerald story ended too)  But!

In the beginning of the movie, he was a baby too.  His face was wrinkled and appeared old.  Why was he not a five- foot-tall baby running around in the end?  Would he have been too freaky?  This particular point of the movie seems to have sparked heated debates among friends.

What do you think?  Please comment!
