A lot of men take their sneakers very seriously. If you think I'm kidding, check out one of my favorite scenes from the film “Do the Right Thing”.* Character Buggin' Out discovers scuffs on his prized Air Jordan IVs after being bumped by a bike-riding Boston Celtic fan. The ensuing moments get tense. In honor of both the 20th Anniversary of this “culturally significant” Spike Lee Joint and the sneaker phenomenon that transcends all lines of race and economic class, this week the Detroit Men’s Style Examiner features its top five spring/summer favorite sneaks.
Pick No. 1 - Air Jordan 1 "Hare" Retro
What better way to kick off this series than to feature the newly released Air Jordan 1 "Hare" Retro. Basically a mock up of the original Air Jordan VII Hare, this version uses the same colors and materials but adds some "flava" to the originals. On the tongue you’ll find the “Hare Jordan” Jumpman logo with the word "Hare" inscribed in blue lettering. And of course there's the original Jumpman logo on the heel.
