Home insulation isn't just a benefit in the winter...it also helps keep the cool air inside in the summer.

Many new "green" insulation products are available - and many require professional assistance or installation - like the cellulose products made of shredded newspaper that can be blown into an attic.

A simpler measure is to insulate around your windows and exterior doors with a spray foam product - and there are many available at any hardware store.  Something new is FOMO Handi Seal Eco Foam made from polyurethane and soy.  A simple can spray, low-pressure sealant that prevents moisture by repelling water, reduces noise and blocks allergens from getting inside too.

FOMO is a U.S. Green Building Council member and an Energy Star partner.

20-ounce can; $15.  (800) 321-5585 or www.fomo.com
