Find out more about Shawna: Shawna Bohan, president of Redmann Mahoney, LLC, was into ‘green’ before it was the new black and established a thriving PR and Marketing consultant firm because of it. Now she and her fellow telecommuting consultants work for environmentally friendly businesses across the United States and in Europe and wish there was more of them to go around. There are great ‘green’ products out there that challenge the status quo. They’re just waiting for their 15 seconds…and she’s going to give it to them. |

'Tis the season to stock up on extra tissues because the cold and flu germs are ready to invade your home and office this winter.
Notice that I fought the urge to write "Kleenex" in the sentence above, even though I've spent my lifetime calling 'tissues' just that (kind of like calling 'tape' "Scotch tape")?
Conscious consumers need to be aware that the makers of Kleenex brand, Kimberly Clark, are clear-cutting ancient forests - including rainforests - so that we can wipe our nose with it. Despite appeals to the company by several environmental groups such as Sierra Club, Kimberly Clark continues to utilize ancient forests for their tissue products.
This is information that Kimberly Clark disputes, but an investigation by Greenpeace proves otherwise. Read the Greenpeace report at www.kleercut.net.
Granted, Kleenex may be the softest tissue on the market, with the prettiest packaging in some cases, but at what real cost? If you can forgo these conveniences, consider a recycled tissue product and go a step further by banishing the "K" word from your home - then your kids may grow up believing that tissue is just tissue!
