The Google logo has changed today to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street, a children's television program aired on public television stations across the United States.

Sesame Street is known for its Muppets characters created by Jim Henson.  It is the longest running children's television program in the U.S.

Sesame Street has been a popular children's program since its inception.  Adults like it too because Sesame Street appeals to older audiences by adding "older" humor.  One Christmas, Big Bird decided to "wait up" for Santa.  He was going to stay up on the roof until he saw Santa.  Hours passed, and Big Bird started wondering if Santa may have been "Stacked over Kennedy."  Humor no child would have caught.

For 40 years now, Sesame Street has been educating children with its innovative and interesting educational television.  We wish Sesame Street a happy birthday.
