Less than a day after performing a zany tribute to Michael Jackson following a touchdown in the CFL opener, Arland Bruce has been fined an undisclosed amount by the league.

The Argonauts have released this statement:

Toronto – Regarding the fine imposed by the Canadian Football League on receiver Arland Bruce III for his touchdown celebration during last night’s victory at Hamilton, the Toronto Argonauts Football Club has issued the following statement:

The Toronto Argonauts support the decision of the Canadian Football League and its Commissioner in fining Arland Bruce III for his conduct in the game last night.  The issue has been addressed internally by Head Coach Bart Andrus and his coaching staff and the Club is confident that any future touchdown celebrations by Argonauts players will be conducted within the rules of the CFL game.  It should be noted that Arland apologized of his own volition to his teammates in today’s team meeting.
