A potential blockbuster deal involving the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers was apparently discussed, but in the end it didn't happen.

The reported deal had the Broncos sending quarterback Jay Cutler to the Bucs for a first-round draft pick. In turn, the Broncos would send that pick to the Patriots for QB Matt Cassel.

The deal would've reunited new Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, the former Patriots offensive coordinator, with Cassel. Instead, the Broncos are now left with an angry QB, who is questioning his relationship with the franchise he's been with for three seasons.

McDaniels also now must game plan against Cassel, a player he'll face twice a season after the QB was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs and their new GM Scott Pioli, formerly of the Patriots.

It's a Patriots world right now and we're just living in it.
