Fun kid activities in Chicago
Friday night, families can visit Geppetto's Toy Box in Oak Park for a fun Gamenight event, during which parents and kids can try out games and receive discounts.
LEGO fans both young and old may want to visit visit The LEGO Store in Schaumburg at Woodfield Mall for a special building event to construct a 4-foot-tall LEGO pirate on Saturday and Sunday. While there, be sure to check out the awesome exclusive LEGO Christmas toys available for this holiday season.
For children who like imaginative, dramatic play, the Animal Houses exhibit at Morton Arboretum where they can play in huge versions of creature homes and pretend to be these creatures will be closing November 15, so now is a good time to visit for the first or last time.
Families interested in Making Good Scents can call to see if any spaces are left in this free Lurie Garden Family Workshop on Sunday, November 8 at Millennium Park that teaches about herbs and includes an arts and crafts activity. Crafty families may also enjoy the free Lakeshore Learning craft activity for this Saturday, a special Veteran's Day flag craft.
Chicago toy sales and deals
The big event in the west suburbs on Friday and Saturday is that the Explorer Store at the DuPage Children's Museum is holding a trunk show attended by 25 toy manufacturers who will present and demonstrate their great educational and specialty toys.
Toys R Us is having a two-day sale full of Doorbuster Deals, and Babies R Us is holding a Super Holiday Sale that discounts many of the toys carried in their new instore Toys R Us Holiday Express shops.
