The first show ABC has picked up for next fall is a comedy mockumentary about three suburban families, featuring two gay dads and an adopted Asian baby. The premise is that a Dutch documentary crew records the day-to-day lives of three American families. One family consists of a working dad, stay at home mom and two kids, one an older Anglo husband newly married to a young Latina wife, and one a Gay adoptive family.
Created by Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd ("Back To You" and "Frasier"), the cast includes Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Noland Gould, Ed O'Neill, Rico Rodriguez, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Sofia Vergara and Ariel Winter.
Ordering the show this early indicates the network's confidence, and early reviews are positive.
