rfamily vacations This Gay and Lesbian family oriented cruise line was started by Gregg Kaminsky and Kelli O’Donnell with support and encouragement from Rosie O'Donnell. Although it is especially designed for Gay and Lesbian families, all kinds of people are welcome, including people without kids who are interested in a more laid-back, family style vacation experience. This summer rfamily will celebrate their ninth cruise by traveling up the Inland Passage to Alaska from July 11-18. Costs vary from as low as $800 per person all the way to $12,000 for outrageous luxury cabins, and include everything but airfare to Seattle.
Family Week in Provincetown is the largest national gathering of LGBT families and friends. This year will be the 14th annual Family Week, from August 1-8 in Provincetown, Massachussetts. Although there are special events planned throughout the week, it's a more do-it-yourself affair.
Mi Casa Su Casa This is a Gay and Lesbian Home Exchange program, and could be a great low-cost way to travel somewhere fabulous with your family. After all, we live in one of the most beautiful states in the world, why not take advantage of it? According to their website, "Lesbian, gay, and gay-friendly members of the mi casa su casa worldwide vacation network can exchange houses/apartments for an agreed period of time, anywhere from a weekend to a few weeks to a few months. While you stay in a member's home in their city and country, they stay in your home. No money is exchanged. Each party continues to pay their own mortgage/rent as usual. Types of homes exchanged range from modest flats and country cabins to spacious houses."
Gay Days at Disney World. June 2-8. Over 140,000 Gay and Lesbian people and their families descend on Orlando's Disney World. A jam-packed schedule of events, including comedians Wanda Sykes on June 5 and Kate Clinton on June 6, which is Gay Day proper.
