In honor of this French holiday on Tuesday, July 14, numerous celebrations are taking place in and around San Francisco. Whether you're in the mood for drinks and light snacks or a full on dinner, there will be something for everyone. Here are a few fun options.
Bay 223 in the Sofitel San Francisco Bay hotel has a three-course dinner plus amuse bouche lined up for $50/person. DJ Cris will be spinning in the Bay Bar from 8:00 p.m. until midnight. 223 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City. 650.508.7126.
The big block party is back at Belden Place, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Revellers will be drinking and dancing on the tables like there's no tomorrow.
BIN 38 is doing $5 glasses of French champagne and half-price french fries, although they acknowedge that the latter aren't really French. They just pair perfectly with the bubbles. The party takes place from 4:00 p.m. to midnight, at 3232 Scott Street between Chestnut and Lombard. 415.567.3838.

Bouchon in Yountville is throwing a family-friendly mega-party from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with live performances from French artists throughout and children's activities during the first half of the celebration. Purchase tickets for food and libations ranging between $2 to $6 each. In addition to Merguez sausages, tarte flambé and savory crepes, there will be sweets such as macarons, cupcakes, cotton candy, and TKO ice cream sandwiches. Bouchon will also feature a whole roasted pig cooked in a caja china and their chocolate bouchons. From July 11 - 14, Left Bank Brasserie in Santana Row will have cooking demonstrations, French poodles on parade, pétanque on the lawn, live music and Cirque de la Bastille: Under the Big Top. Left Bank in Menlo Park is celebrating on Saturday, July 12th with a special brunch and entertainment from Laurent Fourgo and His Combo, noon to 3:00 p.m. Left Bank Brasserie.
Restaurant Cassis in Pacific Heights will serve three courses plus amuse bouche for $49.95, featuring items such as lobster and crab salad and filet mignon with black truffle sauce. 2101 Sutter at Steiner. 415.440.4500.
