Alexandria celebrates its birthday July 11th with fireworks and more

This coming Saturday, July 11th, Alexandria will be 260 years old. To help celebrate this, several events will be going on in the city including:

The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra will commemorate Alexandria's 260th Birthday Celebration with a concert full of pops favorites and jazz standards, including Ellington and Gershwin. This event is FREE and concludes with fireworks and Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," complete with cannon fire provided by the U.S. Marine Corps, and birthday cake. Concert at 6 p.m. with fireworks at dark (approximately 9:30). Oronoco Bay Park, (on the water between Pendleton and Madison streets in old town).

The Lorien Hotel & Spa is celebrating Alexandria's 260th birthday with a special fireworks viewing party on one of the hotel's premier outdoor terraces. Party-goers can enjoy a night under the stars and a front row seat for Alexandria's celebratory fireworks while sampling desserts and cocktails provided by BRABO by Robert Wiedmaier. Old Town's newest hotspot, BRABO is helmed by Chef Wiedmaier, who was just named Chef of the Year by The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. 

Tickets are $50 per person and include desserts, and an open bar featuring signature cocktails such as the Blueberry Lemonade, the White Cosmo with Dry Ice, and House-Made Fruit Sangria.

Dandy Restaurant Cruises are offering a way to see  the fireworks from a new view aboard Nina's Dandy. And, only once per year, you can also enjoy spectacular views of Alexandria's birthday fireworks along the city's historic seaport.

Catch a great view of the fireworks aboard a riverboat, Potomac Riverboats is offering The Miss Christin, tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for any child under the age of 11. The cruise will go no matter what the weather. There are no discounts and no refunds. Tickets can only be purchased at the Alexandria ticket booth located at the Alexandria City Marina, 0 Cameron St, Alexandria, VA.
