Nancy Pane Fortwengler’s Solo Show
Room 21
Nancy Pane Fortwengler explores the form and iconic symbols of femininity through her series of figurative dress paintings in which the body exists without the figure. Working backstage with a ballet company, Fortwengler was inspired to create the series after seeing the movement of the dancer’s costumes under dramatic stage lighting where the dresses themselves took on a life of their own.
