Monday, November 9th marked the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. That massive barrier that divided Berlin and that separated Germany from Europe like an Iron Curtain is gone.
Gone, but not forgotten.
Gone just like another November 9th in Germany, this one in 1938. It was then, during what is referred to as Kristalinacht (The Night of the Broken Glass) when nearly 100 German Jews were killed while some 200 Jewish Synagogues were demolished by the Nazis.
Yes, gone but not forgotten.
To push the point, during the 2009 commemoration, the old cement Berlin wall was replaced by a collection of brightly painted, eight-foot-tall foam sticks that temporarily followed some of its predecessor's former route. Then, in an instant, that new "wall" toppled like dominos -- reminding everyone of what happened in the past.
Yes, gone but not forgotten.
