The follow-up to “Consejo” (Universal Music, 2005), the quartet’s new effort – which hit the market Nov. 25 - boasts 10 new tracks that bet on the band’s old sound, but with a more radio-friendly attitude.
To read my album review come back on Friday, but in the meantime, here’s the set’s track listing:
“Fuego” (Sony International, 2008)
1. Siente El Fuego
2. Peligroso Amor
3. Déjalos Que Hablen
4. Pedazos De Mí
5. Salto Mortal
6. Lo Lamento
7. Mi Amor Por Ti
8. A Tu Lado
9. No Puedes Parar
10. Culpable
Led by frontman Gustavo Laureano, La Secta Allstars is comprised of Mark Kilpatrick (bass), John Lengel (Drums) and Mikey Genao (guitar). Since it burst onto the scene in the late ‘90s, La Secta Allstars has been one of my favorite Puerto Rican alt-rock bands. Its edgy rocking sounds, coupled with the unique, scratchy voice of Laureano, have always been a powerful combination. Since the release of “Consejo,” - which has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide - the band has garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock Album and a nod for a Billboard award in the Best Alternative Rock Album category.
The band's hits include "Aniquila" and "Dame lo que quieras," but one of my favorite tracks is "Cruzado pero claro."
